Shirley, Filmed in Cincinnati, is Now Out on Netflix
The biopic is centered around Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm’s historic 1972 presidential campaign. Chisholm was the first Black woman elected to Congress and is portrayed by Academy Award winner Regina King.
Partly filmed in Cincinnati in 2021 and 2022, the location was special to sisters Regina and Reina King (who also play sisters on screen) whose mother was from Cincinnati and went to Walnut Hills High School! Watch coverage from Local 12 interviewing them here.
