Legacy Circle Planned Giving

CPA’s Legacy Circle recognizes individuals and families who have remembered CPA in their estate plans through a planned gift or gift of real estate. The Legacy Circle enables members to acknowledge Cincinnati’s unique historic resources and secure CPA’s mission for generations to come.

Planned Gifts

Create a legacy that will save historic buildings, and the resources that make Cincinnati a unique and special place for generations to come, through planned giving: gifts that do not involve writing a check!

Estate Gifts – Gifts in Wills or Living Trusts
There are many ways to make a planned gift. Most commonly, these can be made as part of your estate planning. After you take care of your loved ones first, please consider including CPA as a beneficiary of your will, living trust, retirement plan, or insurance policy. Imagine what an incredible difference your gift can have on what we can accomplish in the future!

Contact your attorney about the best options for you and your family; then provide our legal name, address, and tax identification number as follows:

Cincinnati Preservation Association
812 Dayton Street
Cincinnati, OH 45214
Tax identification number: 31-6049618

Gifts from Retirement Assets and Insurance

You can name CPA as percentage beneficiary of a retirement asset, or of a “paid up” life insurance policy. Simply go on-line to update your beneficiary plans or contact the company for a change of beneficiary form; then use our legal name and address as noted above.

Don’t Be a Stranger… You’re Making Us Part of Your Family!

Be sure to let us know if you do include CPA in your estate plans. We would love to learn more about your passions, discuss how you’d like your gift to be used, and thank you before it is too late. (Your plans can remain anonymous, if you prefer.)

Real Estate

Cincinnati Preservation also accepts gifts of real estate which we are uniquely positioned to steward. Contribution of real estate, both residential and commercial, have been important in aiding the work of our mission over the years. Making a gift of property to Cincinnati Preservation enables you to preserve your home, give a lasting gift to your community and participate directly in the preservation of Greater Cincinnati’s cultural and architectural heritage. Plus there are tax advantages for you such as:

  • avoiding capital gains tax on the property’s appreciated value
  • receiving a charitable deduction from income taxes
  • removing the value of the property from your estate for estate tax purposes

Gifts You Can Make Today

Stock Gifts

Donating stock instead of cash can have many benefits for you and can be a convenient way to support Cincinnati Preservation. Gifts of stock that are transferred to CPA (not sold first) may provide you with tax advantages and enable you to make a more meaningful gift. (CPA, as a tax-exempt organization, will benefit from the full value of the stock.)

For audit and acknowledgment purposes, please call or write Cincinnati Preservation with information about each gift of stock that is to be transferred. We will need your name, contact information, name of security, number of shares, approximate value and date of the transfer, and whether you prefer to remain anonymous

Bank instructions for stock transfers can be provided by emailing Executive Director, Beth Johnson at beth.johnson@cincinnatipreservation.org.

For individuals who are 70 ½ or older, the IRA Charitable Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution) is a tax-savvy way to support Cincinnati Preservation Association. If you are 73 and required to make annual withdrawals from an IRA account, these otherwise taxable distributions may satisfy your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and exclude these funds from your taxable income.

What are the benefits?

Transfer tax-free funds from your IRA directly to Cincinnati Preservation Association.
Can be applied toward your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
Beneficial for those who do not itemize deductions on their income taxes.
Withdrawals are not subject to annual charitable deduction limitations.

How an IRA charitable rollover gift works

Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to us.
Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to the Cincinnati Preservation Association to help continue our important work.

Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
Please contact Beth Johnson at beth.johnson@cincinnatipreservation.org if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose.
