Legacy Circle Planned Giving
Cincinnati Preservation’s Legacy Circle recognizes individuals and families who have remembered Cincinnati Preservation in their estate plans through a planned gift or gift of real estate. The Legacy Circle enables members to acknowledge Cincinnati’s unique historic resources and secure our mission for generations to come.
Planned Gifts
Create a legacy that will save historic buildings, and the resources that make Cincinnati a unique and special place for generations to come, through planned giving: gifts that do not involve writing a check!
Estate Gifts – Gifts in Wills or Living Trusts
There are many ways to make a planned gift. Most commonly, these can be made as part of your estate planning. After you take care of your loved ones first, please consider including Cincinnati Preservation as a beneficiary of your will, living trust, retirement plan, or insurance policy. Imagine what an incredible difference your gift can have on what we can accomplish in the future!
Contact your attorney about the best options for you and your family; then provide our legal name, address, and tax identification number as follows:
Cincinnati Preservation
812 Dayton Street
Cincinnati, OH 45214
Tax identification number: 31-6049618
Gifts from Retirement Assets and Insurance
You can name Cincinnati Preservation as percentage beneficiary of a retirement asset, or of a “paid up” life insurance policy. Simply go on-line to update your beneficiary plans or contact the company for a change of beneficiary form; then use our legal name and address as noted above.
Don’t Be a Stranger… You’re Making Us Part of Your Family!
Be sure to let us know if you do include Cincinnati Preservation in your estate plans. We would love to learn more about why preservation is important to you, discuss how you’d like your gift to be used, and thank you before it is too late. (Your plans can remain anonymous, if you prefer.)
Real Estate
Cincinnati Preservation also accepts gifts of real estate which we are uniquely positioned to steward. Contributions of real estate, both residential and commercial, have been important in aiding the work of our mission over the years. Making a gift of property to Cincinnati Preservation enables you to preserve your home, give a lasting gift to your community and participate directly in the preservation of Greater Cincinnati’s cultural and architectural heritage. Plus there are tax advantages for you such as:
- avoiding capital gains tax on the property’s appreciated value
- receiving a charitable deduction from income taxes
- removing the value of the property from your estate for estate tax purposes
Gifts You Can Make Today
Stock Gifts
Donating stock instead of cash can have many benefits for you and can be a convenient way to support Cincinnati Preservation. Gifts of stock that are transferred to Cincinnati Preservation (not sold first) may provide you with tax advantages and enable you to make a more meaningful gift. (Cincinnati Preservation, as a tax-exempt organization, will benefit from the full value of the stock.)
For audit and acknowledgment purposes, please call or write Cincinnati Preservation with information about each gift of stock that is to be transferred. We will need your name, contact information, name of security, number of shares, approximate value and date of the transfer, and whether you prefer to remain anonymous.
Bank instructions for stock transfers can be provided by contacting Cincinnati Preservation.
IRA Charitable Rollovers
For individuals who are 70 ½ or older, the IRA Charitable Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution) is a tax-savvy way to support Cincinnati Preservation. If you are 73 and required to make annual withdrawals from an IRA account, these otherwise taxable distributions may satisfy your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and exclude these funds from your taxable income.
What are the benefits?
Transfer tax-free funds from your IRA directly to Cincinnati Preservation.
Can be applied toward your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
Beneficial for those who do not itemize deductions on their income taxes.
How an IRA charitable rollover gift works
Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to us.
Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to the Cincinnati Preservation to help continue our important work.
Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.
