Cincinnati Preservation Association’s “Fall Forum on Preservation” is held each October and presents national or international experts on a wide range of topics. Chair Margaret Valentine selects speakers who present emerging preservation initiatives and concepts. The Forum is widely anticipated and attracts an audience of over 300 preservationists, civic leaders, developers, design students, and public officials.
About our 2020 Theme:
To celebrate the “Year of the Woman”, our 2020 keynote speaker Thea Tjepkema presented
“Muses: The Women of Music Hall” highlighting the legacy of women performing in, creating
works of art for, and sustaining Cincinnati Music Hall. Ms. Tjepkema is a preservationist and
historian who brings history alive with her vivacious style. Her extensive research on Music
Hall helps guide renovations and serves as the basis for the popular Friends of Music Hall
Like the muses of history, singing, music, dance, comedy and tragedy, depicted in the
mural on Springer Auditorium’s ceiling above the chandelier, Music Hall has hosted artists,
musicians, divas, prima ballerinas, suffragists, business leaders, and patrons of the arts. Their
stories continue to stir the souls of all who enter. Some of these women might be forgotten,
but all were legends in their day. The talk will show how these trailblazing women placed the
crown upon the “Grand Lady” of the Queen City and kept it shining with grace and brilliance
for generations to come.
We hope enjoy the video!
