CPA is a private, nonprofit, membership organization serving the Greater Cincinnati community as the recognized resource and catalyst for the preservation of historic architecture through education, advocacy and technical support.

CPA has preserved historic buildings through advocacy, acquisition and restoration, relocation, preservation easements and a revolving fund for housing rehabilitation.  Examples include Memorial Hall, Heritage Village Museum at Sharon Woods, and Union Terminal.

Recently, we saved the freestanding bell tower of the former Walnut Hills Presbyterian Church.  With ties to the historic Lane Seminary, and Reverend Lyman Beecher (Harriet Beecher Stowe’s father), the Tower bears witness to a courageous stand for racial justice that helped reform the nation’s views on slavery.

We have implemented proactive programs to prevent future threats to historic properties.  Our preservation easement program has grown to one of the largest in the Midwest, providing permanent protection for more than 80 historic buildings and sites in Ohio and Kentucky.  We have also raised funds for capital planning grants to assist congregations with historic church buildings in raising the funds needed to maintain their historic sacred sites.

Membership support allows us to continue these important programs and preserve the architectural gems that give our community its distinct character.  Your support can make a difference by ensuring that the best parts of this community are preserved for future generations.

Members receive access and discounted admission to informative monthly programs on preservation, local history, architecture and restoration, invitations to special events, including our annual Fall Forum Luncheon, historic house tours, and our newsletter with information about upcoming events and current preservation issues.

Our staff and trustees are looking forward to an exciting future protecting our community’s past.  Become a member today by calling  513.721.4506.
